..it’s been a bit over 一年 since I moved to nyc to be an artist/illustrator.
I made the picture in this post at the end September 2019. I still remember sitting in Battery Park, during a drawing meet-up, making one of the very first @pandacubstories comics.
So much has happened since then!
5 years ago, I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder (depression), anxiety, and adult ADHD. It’s been difficult for me to talk openly about my own mental health. I grew up with the belief that admitting to anxiety/depression was a weakness - the result of lack of discipline + an inability to “吃苦” (literally, ‘eat bitterness’).
It’s not that I didn’t believe mental illness existed…
