Welcome to 《Panda Cub Stories》 – my name is Linda. Before we get started, I want to share some basic information about Panda with you. There’s a lot out there, so this is to help you decide if Panda Cub Stories is what you’re looking for。

What is this? ｜这是什么?
《Panda Cub Stories》 are stories told bilingually in Mandarin Chinese and English. Right now, Panda Cub Stories is retelling Journey to the West, considered one of the “Four Great Classical Novels” of Chinese Literature. As of 2018, I am also teaching Chinese Characters through art! Details for both of these projects can be found below.
《熊猫宝宝故事》是用中英文对应讲的双语故事 。《熊猫宝宝故事》将会讲《西游记》的故事,中国的四大名著之一。从2018年开始, 我们也在通过绘画方式来教汉子。详情请见下文！
Who this is for ｜给谁的？
I mainly created 《Panda Cub Stories》for children currently learning Mandarin and/or English, in order to share an appreciation for Chinese culture while simultaneously helping to strengthen their language skills. Of course, Panda Cub Stories are also for older friends who are interested Chinese culture and language! I strongly believe that a good story is a good story – for children and adults alike！ That being said, the primary focus of Panda Cub Stories is to be a starting point for those learning Chinese and/or English. The stories here will be summarized adaptions – and not translations – of original Chinese texts. Lastly, as there may be very young listeners in the audience, I will also begin any episodes which contain “scary parts” with a
*note to the listener*
This way, parents or teachers listening with younger friends can decide whether or not it is appropriate for their children.
《熊猫宝宝故事》主要是为正在学习中文或者正在学英文的小朋友创造的。 当然，也欢迎对中国文化和语言感兴趣的大朋友！我相信好故事就是好故事－对小朋友大朋友都一样！
不过，《熊猫宝宝故事》的另一个目的是为开始学中文或英文的朋友们创造一个起点。所以，这些故事会是改编过的简化版本，而不是全文翻译。

Making Chinese Characters
Multilingualism through art: teaching Chinese Characters one painting at a time!
In 2018, I’ll take us through the 100 most commonly used Chinese Characters (with a few extras thrown in!) – explaining etymology and providing stories and examples along the way! After that, we’ll move on to the next 200, 300 characters etc. My goal is to here is to help us reach basic reading proficiency by the end of 2019... and become increasingly literate going forward! I’ll be updating the panda Instagram daily, so follow us to keep up!

My name is Linda! I am a Chinese American who grew up in the bible belt of the south, and the Chinese tales of my childhood grounded me to my culture. I believe that good stories ignite a love for learning -- of language and culture. As an artist and educator, my vision is to create art and stories to educate and inspire the next generation of children to learn Chinese!
我的名字是易琳达: 我是美籍华人，在美国的“bible belt"(东南部)长大。小的时候，我最喜欢听中国著名的神话故事了！我相信这些故事帮助了我很多：让我没有丢失中文语言和文化。作为教育者和艺术家，我相信好故事能让孩子热爱上学习：学习语言和去学习另一个文化。我希望可以通过故事来帮助更多孩子学习和欣赏中国文化。
